Ryan and Conner

I got to go watch Ryan and Conner play SOCCER.

Both games were at the same time so I photographed Conner's game and then switched to Ryan's game at half-time. They both played very well and you could tell that they enjoyed the game. After their games I photographed just the two of them playing soccer in their backyard.

Backyard Bird -- Carolina Wren

We like to take trips now and again, but often great images can be captured right in your own back yard. We both love Carolina Wrens and they do frequent the feeders in the backyard and we have had them nest in the yard on several occasions (once on the front door in a wreath, LOL).

Charles and Family

We photographed Charles, Cheryl, Elli and Ally -- what beautiful girls! wow!!

I just love the expressions on the girls faces. They came in dressed so beautifully and the colors worked just great with our background too.

When it comes to nature photography 99% of my photographs are color, but when it comes to people I still tend to be drawn to Black and White. It just shows the soul of the person.

There were sooo many great expressions -- I could not decide upon just one favorite so I just had to make this montage!

After the Image Challenge Winners

Ok we have our winners finally for our After the Image challenge. The Challenge was to produce an image that was sellable and that was modified after the original image. We all would like to sell images straight out of the camera, but more often than not - there are times when we see an image and think we can do more - and then we do - and then it sells - and then it goes from an ordinary image to something amazing.

The First Winner was: Danielle. Roxanne from Pixel2Canvas picked her as the winner. And Danielle wins a canvas from Pixel2Canvas!Nice work!!

Our Honorable Mention went to Lisa Cuchara
I love that she was able to take the distracting elements away for a classic portrait. Lisa won a Sugar Card template from Photographer Cafe

Leah iPod session and more

We recently photographed Leah in our Studio in order to create an iPod portrait for everyone to sign (the mat) at her Bat Mizvah.

Here are four photographs, including two iPod portraits from her session. Leah's wonderful Bat Mizvah dress has a sash that is almost identical to the iPod green color. The last image will be the one that we bring for her friends to sign. More to come from the Bat Mizvah and then the reception afterwards.

TJ and Matthew

We took photographs of Tyler (TJ) and Matthew, the grandchildren of Edie and Tom. They came all prepared with a couple of outfit changes, etc. even their new karate uniforms.



We took sooo many great photographs, lots of outfits, lots of poses, and LOTS of expressions -- here is a composite of each of them in their karate uniform.

We had taken photographs of Tom a couple of months ago http://breaphotos.blogspot.com/2009/03/indiana-jones.html and the kids remembered the silhoutettes that we had taken and asked us if they could have silhoutettes taken too.

Lisa's Osprey receives a perfect score NECCC Nature Competition

NECCC Electronic Interclub Pictorial and Nature Competitions
One of Lisa's photographs was one of four photographs used to represent the New Haven Camera Club in the Spring 2009 NECCC Electronic Interclub Pictorial and Nature Competitions.

Special congratulations to Lisa who received a perfect 30 points and first place in the nature competition for her photograph "Osprey with flounder for dinner."
Lisa Cuchara's photograph is eligible for the Nature Photograph of the Year. The photographs of the year will be chosen by a judge from outside New England and will be announced at the awards ceremony on Sunday morning at the NECCC conference this summer.

In the nature competition the New Haven Camera Club was in first place overall again this year with 294 points.

Lisa's Osprey photograph wins BEST IN SHOW

The George W. Glennie Memorial Nature Interclub Exhibition was held on March 28, 2009 in the Greater Lynn Photographic Association Building, Lynn, MA. The George W. Glennie Memorial Nature Competition has been held since 1981. George was the founder and first chairman of the Merrimack Valley Camera Club nature group.

The New Haven Camera Club as a whole ranked in the top ten clubs of the 95 clubs that participated. http://www.glennie-exhibition.com/2009/2009%20Glennie%20Top%2010.pdf. The location of 95 these clubs is listed below (number of clubs is in parentheses). Each camera club submitted ten images. The maximum possible score for each image was 27 points.

Meet Veronica -- an adorable newborn!

Andrey and Magda's family recently grew by two feet.

Andrey will always be able to look back at this time in his life as one of great accomplishments: 2009 -- the year that his daughter Veronica was born, the year that he defended his PhD in Immunology from Yale Medical College and the year that he was honored as one of the top ten photographers in PSA (Photographic Society of Amercia). Needless to say we were honored to have a chance to meet little Veronica and photograph her. She is an adorable baby girl with two doting parents.

Can you believe how little she is?

See how s t r e t c h e d out she is in this next one??? She did this a LOT.

Newborn photography is usually done withinin the first three weeks, preferably within the first 8 days because they are usually still "all scrunched up" and very rarely discover their legs and "unroll" and stretch until after 3 weeks when they lose their "newborn" features and attain other characteristics.

Not Veronica. Veronica was born 4 weeks early BUT she is not going to let that stop her, no way, no how. You can tell some of her disposition already. There were some "newborn poses" that she was just having no part of (but we got many other poses that I would not have thought possible for such a wee little one).

We love collages like this one because it allows you to tell a more complete story.

Isn't she angelic? We will have to do an angel session when she is a little bit older.

Although we love our props nothing is cuter than a newborn against her daddy' skin.
