Sneak Peak at Scotland

We photographed Kathy and Scott's engagement, wedding, expecting and now their family has grown by two feet and we got to meet Scotland. We are lucky to be able to witness this little miracle!

Scotland Aubrie Beck was born on Monday, June 7th, 2010 at 9:56 a.m.
She weighed 7lbs, 15oz and was 20 3/4 inches long.

They are only this small for a short time...

Look at these proud parents!

I love these hats. They are from Etsy Too adorable, and I love the way that she grabbed it and held it in her hand...

Daddy's Girl...

I love capturing photographs of newborns with wedding rings on their toes. When I take it all I can imagine is her parents pulling out this photo when she asks for the car keys, brings home a serious boyfriend, etc.

This was the email from Kathy and Scott. Scotland was a little late (she was due May 30th)coming into the world and Kathy certainly has a story to tell of her arrival, but we were so honored to be able to photograph their little bundle of joy!

Hi Tom & Lisa: Scotland made it into the world safely and blessed with good health. I know we wanted to shoot her before she gets "too old". She was born June 7th, so tomorrow makes her 10 days...let us know your availability and we will be there. Our calendar is clear this week and weekend so hopefully we can get in soon. Looking forward to another photo shoot!! Kathy, Scott & Scotland!

These photographs and more are posted on our website in Scotland's Gallery.

Eco-friendly maternity shirts

We love to photograph "mom-to-be's" -- our maternity sessions are a lot of fun. I jsut came across some Eco-friendly maternity shirts-- Pitter Patter, Stork Bag and Breakdancing Baby would be great in a photo shoot, but Baby Cord Girl and Baby Cord boy are just fun looking.

This is from their website: Our shirts come with a KSeraSera tag and are also made in a SWEATSHOP FREE environment. Our unique BAMBOO FABRIC is 100% earth friendly. We have designed our shirts with a longer cut, to cover that growing belly through the ENTIRE PREGNANCY. Right until the bitter, puffy end!

Donovan photographed by Connecticut photographers Tom and Lisa Cuchara of BREA Photos

Meet Donovan...

Such a wonderful young man. He had a lot of fun playing in our Studio and we were able to really capture a lot of expressions from him.

He loves sports and told me that he really likes basketball, but that he needs to be a little older before he can play football.

Donvan with his Mom and his Dad. Look at the way that he looks at his Dad. I love it!

I really like the way that the Trios came out. Family portraits are so important. There have been studies showing that children do better and have more self esteem in homes where family portraits hang on the wall. These family portraits really help to establish their place within the family.

"Father and Son" I really like this last series -- look at all of the interactions with his Dad. Wow...

See more photographs from his session in his gallery on our website.

Thank Heaven for little girls

Remember Nicole, we photographed her glowing pregnancy just a few weeks ago...well, meet Summer!

This is what Nicole wrote...

"She was born june 6 2010 at 10:41 am weighing 8.3lbs and measuring at 20 inches! Shes the most precious little girl I've ever seen and loves to move around and open her eyes!"

We had a great session! Brian and Nicole were wonderful! You can view the rest of the photographs from her session in "Summer's gallery" in our website.

I just love these next photographs, they are what we call a "miracle photos" and the younger and more sleepy the baby is the more likely we are to be able to capture these...

What a difference a couple of weeks make ;-)

This is what Nicole had to say about her maternity session...

Thank you so much for the pictures! They came out amazing! You have done a beautiful job. I have not been able to pick yet as I've been running around with appointments due to the fact that I am being induced tomorrow morning so I go into the hospital tonight. When we get home we will set up a photo shoot arrangement for the little one :) Thank you for everything!!!!!

Remember, newborns are best when photographed about 8-10 days of age. A newborn that is only a few days old will usually sleep through anything! In order to get the baby to fold up into squished and cute positions it is necessary that they be sleepy, cozy and comfortable. Each day that the baby gets older they sleep a little less, stretch out more and skin imperfections (like baby acne) start to show. Generally baby acne will kick in around 3 weeks and stay for quite awhile. This doesn’t happen in all babies, but it is very common.

We know that you will be tired and don't feel like having your picture taken but we can pretty much guarantee that if you wait until your baby is a few weeks old she will not sleep through the session and we will spend much of the session just trying to get her to sleep. Please note that regardless of when we will do photograph her our best to capture every tiny beautiful moment! They change so quickly at this age and we just love capturing these fleeting times...

A moment does not last forever but a memory can.

Let us create lasting memories for you.

Tom and Lisa Cuchara, Connecticut Photographers (Hamden)

Let us create a beautiful heirloom to be enjoyed for generations. A family portrait is a permanent representation of a moment in time in the life of the family. A family portrait transcends the family snapshot,in that it is orchestrated with a professional touch. As time goes by, the children grow and the family matures. What a treasure to have all these changes recorded for the future enjoyment of family members and friends for many years to come! Children grow up, and then go off to college and then have children of their own, giving your grandchildren to love and spoil. This month is the perfect time to get the family together to make a memory that will last a lifetime.

A reminder not to wait for the perfect time!

A reminder not to wait for the perfect time!

I read a wonderful article on another photographer's blog -- wow! I just had to post it to remind everyone of the importance of family photographs -- do not wait for the perfect time for photos.

it’s so easy to say
–i’m too fat.
i have too much going on.
we’re too busy.
maybe next year.

but I just want to say STOP IT!

We need to take the time to appreciate the value of family photos, if not for ourselves (because we’re too fat or whatever), then for our children. In 20 years, your children are not going to say,
i really love this photo of my family but i wish my mom had waited until she lost some weight.
Please just get a family portrait done because these photographs are so important to those who love you!

We never know what tomorrow will bring our way.
and life is quickly racing by; before we know it, our kids will be grown and leaving the house.

NO, THERE IS NO PERFECT TIME.

I hope that this will inspire someone, who might be waiting for that perfect time or to lose a couple of pounds, to book a photographer…today!

Quinnipiac Physician Assistant program

I photographed the incoming students (52 students!) for the Quinnipiac Physician Assistant program this afternoon. It was a fun experience, shooting very fast but still making sure that everyone was smiling and their eyes were open.

Special thanks to Amanda, who we have been mentoring, for her assistance today getting the equipment all set up and making sure that we had the order of the 52 students written down for their composite photograph.

Breanna in her junior prom dress

We photographed Breanna this weekend in the dress she wore to the Junior Prom. Wow!
