Milford Fine Arts Best of Show

I keep forgetting to post this! March 12th I won BEST of SHOW at the Milford Fine Arts Photo Expo. There were a lot of great images this year and it was an honor to receive Best of Show.

There was a twist to this, because Tom won Best of Show last year and the tile of my image was "My Turn" which was sort of cute.

Tom and Lisa receive their MNEC honors

We received MNEC honors!

Master Member, New England Camera Club Council = MNEC

MNEC is awarded to those who have performed exceptional service for the Council during a period of not less than five years, and/or have substantially advanced photography in the New England area through lecturing, teaching, judging, and through other administrative activities in photographic organizations for the same period. This honor is limited to a maximum of five each year.

The New England Camera Club Council (NECCC) is a non-profit umbrella group for about 80 camera clubs in the New England states (Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont). The Council was established in 1937 and incorporated in 1963.

The Council sponsors a variety of events and services for the photographers of New England including an annual three-day photography conference each July at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA, which is one of the largest in the United States. Over 1200 photographers from the U.S. and other countries attend our conference. Attendees range from beginner to professional photographer.

This year we presented a basic Photoshop preconference workshop at NECCC, plus we gave a program entitled "Fixing Your Friends and Family with Photoshop" three times during the conference.

After the Image Challenge Winners

May 11, 2009

Ok we have our winners finally for our After the Image challenge. The Challenge was to produce an image that was sellable and that was modified after the original image. We all would like to sell images straight out of the camera, but more often than not - there are times when we see an image and think we can do more - and then we do - and then it sells - and then it goes from an ordinary image to something amazing.

The First Winner was: Danielle. Roxanne from Pixel2Canvas picked her as the winner. And Danielle wins a canvas from Pixel2Canvas!Nice work!!

Our Honorable Mention went to Lisa Cuchara
I love that she was able to take the distracting elements away for a classic portrait. Lisa won a Sugar Card template from Photographer Cafe

Bluebird wins HM

Lisa received an honorable mention from the Photographic Society of America for her photograph of a bluebird with a moth in its mouth. In this competition the New England Camera Club Council (NECCC) competed against five other camera club councils from around the United States. NECCC chose 10 photos from among the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and HM winners from the 2006-2007 Competitions to represent the council in the recent Council Challenge at the just completed PSA Convention in Tucson. NECCC finished FIRST with 130 points. Four photographs (3 from NECCC) earned perfect scores of 15 points and then the judges broke the tie and Lisa's photo was awarded an honorable mention.
